The Provost, Adeyemi College of Education, (ACE) Ondo, Ondo State, Prof. Olukoya Ogen said the institution has beefed up its security to check kidnapping, robbery and other vices.
Three students of the institution were recently kidnapped by suspected gunmen, who killed one of them for money rituals. The criminals have been arrested by the police.
Speaking when he visited the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Correspondents’ Chapel Office in Akure, Ogen said preventive measures had been put in place to checkmate security lapses in the college.
The Provost, who spoke through the college’s Head of Media, Mrs Oluseto Olatuyi, said the institution had installed Close Circuit Television(CCTV) in strategic locations on the campus to fortify security.
Prof. Ogen also disclosed that all authentic students had been issued
identity cards, adding that the college would soon become a university.

According to the Provost, public hearing on the issue had been complete, adding that the college has since been operating at university level in term of learning modules, research, thereby competing with other universities’ programmes.
He said: “The bill is at the last stage at the Senate and we pray that it will have President Muhammadu Buhari’s mercy for assent when finally passed.
“If we attained that level, our responsibilities will be increased and we are up to the task,” he said.
Ogen enjoined the chapel of its all-inclusive collaboration and contributions towards information dissemination.
The chapel’s chairman, Ojo Oyewamide, thanked the Provost for the
visit. He also blamed heads of institutions for not employing experts in the
management of information unlike Adeyemi College of Education, which has
put the round peg in a round hole
