UNICAL Recalls Lecturer Suspended For Raping Student

The management of the University of Calabar has recalled a lecturer, Prof Cyril Ndifon who was suspended for allegedly raping a student.

Prof. Ndifon was the former Dean of the Faculty of Law and he was accused of sexually assaulting a 20-year-old 400 level  student in 2015.

According to CrossRiverWatch, the lecturer had tore the student's scripts in the classroom  and then invited her to his office where he forcibly had carnal knowledge of the student.

The allegation was raised by the mother of the victim, Mrs. Irene Akpan against the Law lecturer, the University management, following  the University's rules and regulations suspended him on September 10, 2015 while the Police invited him for interrogation.

Mrs Akpan in a letter to the University said the incident occurred on August 29 between 3 and 5pm at Prof. Ndifon's private office at the top floor of the faculty building.

She also addsed that the lecturer forcibly had sex with her daughter after fierce struggle.

This was not the first time that such allegation would be raised against the lecturer, there was another sexual allegations against him as  reported on CrossRiverWatch  that a senator in Cross River state accused the lecturer of asking his friend’s daughter to suck his genitals.

The lecturer has been reported to have been reinstated by the University management as Law students were recently seen welcoming him back to the University. The lecturer is the first Law Professor from Cross River state
