Identical twins were on Saturday arrested for alleged examination malpractice in the ongoing Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), at the University of Maiduguri centre, Borno.
Chief Examiner Officer in the state, Mr Babagana Gutti, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the twins tricked invigilators and security personnel to gain entrance to the centre.
He said one tried to sit for the examination on behalf of other.
“Hussain Andulhammeed, was captured in the biometric registration for the Compute Base Test (CBT), but Hassan took advantage of their semblance and sat for the examination.”
“We did not suspect foul play until an invigilators saw the identical twin outside the examination hall, he asked him questions he could not answer, then he put the two brothers together for verification.”
Gutti added that the candidates had been penalized and handed over to security personnel.
