FUOYE PROTEST UPDATES

Emmanuel Adelusola, FUOYE

It is no longer news to the public that the Students of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti are in disagreements with the University's management, as they had a mass protest yesterday.

The students are fighting for a better road in the campus, good health care, release of their results on time, provision of internet by the school.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Professor Kayode Soremekun addressed students today at the University Oye Campus, he promised that the management are working to meet all their needs and that he has contacted the contractors for the road and that he would seek the cheapest service provider, he finally pledged to make things happen faster.

Campus Trends reached the Student Union President, Comrade Fashakin Taiwo via a phone call.

'The VC came to address the general public this morning, in the Oye at about 9.50am, we are yet to meet a final conclusion because of what [we] the student  want is a deadline, that is an ultimatum of when all our requests would be met, but the VC is yet to give us an ultimatum ' said Comrade Fashakin when asked about the progress of the meeting with the management.

'The school is open, but it's just that we aren't working for now,  let's wait till tomorrow because the Vice Chancellor is going to address students at the Ikole Campus' he concluded when he was asked if the school was close.
