NUC visits Oduduwa University over PhD's commencement

High ranking members of National Universities Commission (NUC)has visited Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu to inspect its facilities leading to the commencement of MSc and PhD in Mass Communication, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Computer Science in the university.

This is contained in a press statement issued by the Registrar of the University, Mrs Adeline Adeyemi,made available to Sunday Vanguard.

Adeyemi who expressed optimism on the outcome of the NUC visitation teams added that the Chancellor of the University, His Royal Eminence,(Dr) Ramon Adegoke Atobatele Adedoyin had ensured that all the necessary facilities and manpower were put in place at the university before the visit.

She noted that the National Universities Commission had earlier approved Post-Graduate programmes in both Business Administration and Accounting for Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu which enabled the Post-Graduate College of the University to offer M.Sc. M.Phil,PhD and MBA with various options in Business Administration as well as M.Sc. and M.Phil, PhD in Accounting programmes

She noted that the 7-man team which was made up of senior NUC officials and academic juggernauts drawn from different universities arrived the campus on the 8th of July and departed on the 10th.

According to the statement,”The team was divided into two with the smaller part focusing on Mass Communication, while the other inspected the remaining 3 science courses.”

The statement added that,”The Mass Communication team which was led by Prof. Victor Kogah of Imo State University also had Prof. Godwin Okon of Rivers State University and Mr Chinda Nyeme of the NUC as members, while the Sciences team consisted of Prof. Olusoji Ilori of University of Lagos, Prof C Nwanguma of University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Prof. Justice Emuoyibofanhe of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso and Mrs A. Balogun of the NUC.”

During the visit, the registrar stressed that ,”Two teams inspected the various facilities put in place by the management of the institution which included laboratories, studios, lecture theatres and classrooms, the University library, seminar rooms among other facilities.”

She recalled that,”Earlier in June, a larger 12-man NUC team had also paid a similar visit to the university for the accreditation and re-accreditation of some undergraduate programmes.”

She said,”The team was at the university to accredit the undergraduate programmes leading to award of degrees in Estate Management and Quantity Surveying and re-accreditation of degree in Business Administration which was due after its initial 5-year of full accreditation.”

“The Estate Management team was led by Prof. Godfrey Okon Udi of University of Uyo, while Prof. Charles Egolum of Nnamdi Azikwe, Awka, Prof. Mohammad Bashar Nuhu of Federal University of Technology, Minna and Mr Joseph Wada of NUC were members.”

“Also the Quantity Surveying team had Prof. Olukayode Oyediran of University of Lagos as the head. The other members were Prof A.A. Musa, Dr Kulomri Jipato Adogbo and Mrs Bilikisu Umar of the NUC”

“The re-accreditation team for Business Administration was led by Prof P.U. Akanwa of Imo State University as the head while the members included Prof Muhammad Sani Umar of Sokoto State University, Associate Prof Edwmah Amah of University of Port-Harcourt and Mr Hammed of NUC.”She said.
