The Council of Legal Education has acknowledged University of Lagos (UNILAG) as the only tertiary institution that has full accreditation to offer Law.
This
was made known by the Council's list of accredited and approved
faculties of Law in Nigeria which was published on Wednesday, November
8.
The
list also revealed that the accreditation of University of Abuja, Lagos
State University and Benue State University have been suspended while
27 other universities have provisional accreditation.
Five Universities have interim accreditation and another nine have the approval to offer Law.
The
suspension of the accreditation of the three universities according to
the Council portends that the validation of these institutions to offer
Law has been suspended, while those with interim accreditation are still
subject to further accreditation.
The
University of Lagos is at the moment in a transition mode as the Vice
Chancellor, Prof Rahamon Bello is preparing to leave office for the 12th
Vice Chancellor, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe to assume office on Saturday, November
